Maths Challenge

We tried this maths problem today and had some great thinking but we haven't solved it - do you think you could do it (with your child)??

    1st trip: 2 women sail to island, 1 stay 1 sail back;
    2nd trip: 1 man sail to island, man stay and women sail back;
    3rd trip: 2 women sail to island, 1 stay 1 sail back;
    4th trip: 1 man sail to island, 2 man saty and woman sail back;
    Final strip: 2 women sail to island and stay.
